Japanese Tamo

Japanese Tamo
Not native to Japan, this wood was transplanted there for its prized figure. The figuring is produced when thick vines wrap around the trunks of the Tamo tree, restricting nutrients and effecting a winding, looping pattern. Originally, only items made for royalty or shoguns could be produced from Tamo.
