Lacewood

Lacewood
This wood’s lacelike pattern gives the wood its namesake. Lacewood is such a neat, exotic wood that it is used extensively in decorative boxes, intarsia and wood turning. It is easily recognized by its large rays, which resemble cells under a microscope. From creamy tans and golds to reddish browns, this highly figured wood is indigenous to Australia and southern portions of the US. The common name for this tree is “Silky-oak”.
